Whether preparing for a reining
run, cutting a cow, or charging down the fence, JPH clients
consistently comment on Bob's clearly communicated-style of
instruction. His mission is to not only prepare his clients
for show pen success, but also to create a learning-rich environment
within which everyone has FUN. From celebrating wins at the
many shows JPH attends to the satisfaction of overcoming each
individual's challenges in the practice pen, good times are
an important part of the JPH experience.
It all starts with mutually understood GOALS.
All JPH clients are asked to complete a Goals for the Year
form prior to the
start of each show season. This consists of three sections:
First, clients provide a detailed listing of an individual's
goals. These
vary greatly from client to client, from "Practicing
in excellence every
time" to "Winning the year-end MCHA buckle in {stated
class}" to "Showing my
first futurity horse".
Then Bob and the client establish and agree upon what type
of commitment and
resources it will require of the client. (e.g. practice schedule,
hauling to
additional shows, a step-up in horsepower, etc.)
And finally, the client outlines his or her expectations of
JPH in
accomplishing the goals.

Before
I started riding with Bob, I use to argue with my trainer... Before
I started riding with Bob, after riding, I cried and
now I laugh...
Before
I started riding with Bob, I never won. And now since
I've been training with Bob I have won in reining and
CUTTING! ME?!
Before
I stared riding with Bob, all horse trainers thought
I was from Mars...but Bob knows I'm
from Venus. I guess
what I am trying to say is that Bob has made riding
and showing fun and I feel that I have a true friend
and a bigbrother
in him.

Hi Bob,
Just a note to let you know
how I did in the Amateur class on Friday. I had a much better
ride then I did in the open, the score really didn't reflect
that but to me it felt better, I scored a 69.5 and was champion
out of 6 and I won another saddle!!! That was really fun,
've been ridding reiners since '97 and this year
is the first time I've won saddles Thank You for all your
help there at the show as well at Oasis, I feel that I have
progressed so much in the last few months since I've been
getting lessons from you.

Here are some
comments made by people who have come and ridden
recently with Bob:
"We
all had a wonderful time yesterday. I haven't been
treated so well in such a long time - and been worked with that much.
We're excited to come back!"
"I just
really want to thank Bob for yesterday. Bob was incredible,
as usual. He has a wonderful way of teaching/explaining
things. He does what I would hope and expect which is
push me a little beyond my comfort zone yet still keeping
in mind my insecurities. Thanks again for everything
yesterday. We had a blast!
"After
work tonight I rode my first cutting horse with Bob
Janssen up at Oasis. What a rush! Got great instruction,
stayed on, and learned a bunch."
